The EIC oversees the editorial board and coordinates how the individual editors\u2019 work comes together to create<em> in medias res<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Head and coordinate the editorial board, making everyone\u2019s responsibilities clear and offering support when needed.<\/li>\n<li>Aided by the section editors, fulfill the mission, standards of quality and editorial policy of<em> in medias res<\/em> in all published content.<\/li>\n<li>Aided by the Communications Manager and Events Manager, coordinate the distribution and outreach strategy of the journal.<\/li>\n<li>Actively pursue opportunities of growth for <em>in medias res<\/em>, including but not limited to new channels of distribution, quality improvements and image improvements.<\/li>\n<li>Perform the final read-through for all content published by <em>in medias res<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Support section editors as needed in all their activities.<\/li>\n<li>Foster a rewarding and productive working environment for the journal\u2019s editorial board and contributors.<\/li>\n<li>Manage the <em>in medias res <\/em>budget with the journal\u2019s mission in mind.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with St. Thomas More and secure faculty associates for the journal.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate recruitment for the editorial board, as well as the next Editor-In-Chief.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong capacity for leadership and motivation<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of all the types of content published by <em>in medias res<\/em> (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, visual art, etc.), and desire to pursue further learning<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of other literary journals and their conventions, and desire to pursue further learning<\/li>\n<li>Collaborative attitude and teamwork skills<\/li>\n<li>Self-reliance and dependability<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback<\/li>\n<li>Focus on detail and a strong grasp of proper grammar<\/li>\n<li>Strong editorial instincts<\/li>\n<li>Ambition to improve the journal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The EIC is responsible for all the journal\u2019s content, both in print and online.
