{"id":1932,"date":"2021-12-03T13:46:58","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T19:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stmcollege.ca\/imr\/?p=1932"},"modified":"2022-01-16T21:26:56","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T03:26:56","slug":"the-home-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stmcollege.ca\/imr\/?p=1932","title":{"rendered":"The &#8220;Home&#8221; Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This fall, we asked contributors: What does home mean to you?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>As we navigate our educations on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the M\u00e9tis, questions of home become important as we learn to situate ourselves and understand the positionalities we occupy.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>In the pages ahead, members of our university campus\u2014undergraduate students, graduate students, staff and alumni\u2014explore these positionalities. The fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art in this issue certainly demonstrate the diversity of these positions.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>After receiving a record-breaking number of submissions this fall, we decided to publish the first-ever double issue of\u00a0<em>in medias res<\/em>. Unable to narrow down the incredible quantity and quality of work we received, our readers get to enjoy two editions of \u201cHome\u201d this fall \u2014 I urge you to read both issues for a holistic experience of home.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/in_medias_res\/docs\/home_1.1januaryreduced\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"612\" height=\"792\" src=\"https:\/\/stmcollege.ca\/imr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Home-1.1cover.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1942\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stmcollege.ca\/imr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Home-1.1cover.png 612w, https:\/\/stmcollege.ca\/imr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Home-1.1cover-232x300.png 232w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/in_medias_res\/docs\/home_1.1januaryreduced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read: The \u201cHome\u201d Issue 1.1<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In issue 1.1 of \u201cHome,\u201d our contributors engage the idea of home as family, lovers, houses, travel, and connections to the land both here and far away. Themes of colonialism, longing, diaspora, racism, struggle and a lack of roots haunt these pages, juxtaposing the comforting intimacy of 1.1.
