The Thirty-Second Michael Keenan Memorial Lecture

November 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm CST

Please join us for the 32nd Michael Keenan Memorial Lecture on Thursday, November 4th at 7:30pm with author Trevor Herriot for his talk, Hunger at the Banquet: A Faith and Justice Lens on Food, Land and Colonialism on the Prairie.

From the capture of Indigenous food gift systems to serve the fur trade, through the destruction of the bison, to inner city food deserts and community fridges, colonization on the northern Great Plains has trapped prairie people within unjust systems of food and land tenure that divide us rural from urban and Indigenous from settler. In this talk writer and naturalist Trevor Herriot uses the moral lens of Catholic social teaching to look at our history and our emerging responsibilities to bring reconciliation to the prairie and its people.

The lecture will be held in the Father O’Donnell Auditorium at St. Thomas More College with a livestream option. As we must limit the number of people attending in person we ask that you register in advance. A link to the livestream of the lecture will be sent to virtual attendees in advance. Registration closes November 4th, 5:00pm.

Updated October 26: The organizing committee for the Michael Keenan Memorial Lecture has made the decision to hold this lecture as an online only event. All registrants, regardless of the option they have chosen, will receive a link to the lecture in advance.
