Winter 2015 Edition

Hello Everyone!

Here’s the 2015 Winter Edition of In Medias Res. The journal begins with an introduction written by Dr. Phillip Lee which discusses the mediatization of contemporary culture. This is then followed by a short story which recounts the story of a girl and her peculiar tea date. In this edition there are wonderful poetry pieces as well as relevant pieces discussing the both Holodomor and the refugee crisis.

Get Published!

Hello Everyone!

Though the term feels like it has barely begun, the editors of In Medias Res are already hard at work putting together the fall edition. This upcoming edition  is shaping up to be one of our best editions yet! This is a quick reminder that you can also get in on this excitement by submitting your own works to be published. We publish everything, from essays to poems, translations to postcard stories and even book reviews!

Spring 2015 Issue

The Spring 2015 edition has officially been published and has been distributed throughout campus! Be sure to visit STM or lower Place Riel to get your own copy. This edition features an exclusive interview with Arthur Slade, and features short fiction pieces inspired by memories and fears. This edition features short-fiction, poetry, essays and short articles.

20th Anniversary Edition

Hello All!

The Winter 2014 edition has officially been published and has been distributed throughout campus! Be sure to swing by STM or lower Place Riel to grab your copy. This edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of In Medias Res, and features insight into the beginnings of the journal and reflections from those who were there at the beginning. This edition features short-fiction, poetry, essays and short articles.

Editors and Submissions Needed!

Though the second term of the 2014/2015 school year has barely begun, the editors of In Medias Res are already busy brainstorming and organizing their ideas for the upcoming Spring 2015 edition. If you are interested in joining the team of editors, feel free to send us an email or swing by one of our weekly meetings.

We are anxiously awaiting new submissions. We are especially interested in submissions of prose, short stories, poems, and essays of any kind. We are also hoping to get a breathtaking piece of art to grace the cover, and beautiful paintings, sketches, and photos to incorporate throughout the journal.

Finishing Touches

As the editorial board puts the finishing details into the upcoming edition and proofs everything twice, we are excitedly awaiting submissions for the Spring 2015 edition!

We’re interested in publishing anything from short stories to poetry, from argumentative essays to thought invoking articles. We are especially interested in expanding our artwork sections and are hoping to receive sketches, paintings, photography, mixed media and textile art. If you or someone you know is a great artist consider submitting your piece to grace the cover of the upcoming Spring 2015 edition.

It’s that time again!!

Submission deadline for the Spring 2013 of In Medias Res is next Friday, March 15th.

Again, if you fancy yourself a/an artist, poet, writer, journalist, photographer, or general thinker, please email your favourite efforts to inmediasres@stmcollege.ca!  Our working theme is “The Role of the Institution in Implementing Social Change”, but of course, all submissions will be considered for publication!

So get those creative juices flowing and show us what you’ve got!
