STM Teaching Excellence Awards

The St. Thomas More Teaching Excellence Award (STM TEA) was established to recognize STM instructors who make outstanding contributions to the learning and working environment at the College. Similar to the Master Teacher and Sylvia Wallace Sessional Lecturer Awards at the University of Saskatchewan, for which STM instructors are not eligible, the STM TEA honours instructors who excel in their profession and emphasizes the importance of good teaching. The award has two streams, for tenured and tenure-track faculty, and for term and sessional faculty.

The winners are announced at the President's Appreciation & Dean's Year End Reception in the spring.

The purpose of the award is to recognize a sustained involvement in the scholarship of community service, defined as engagement of faculty with their larger communities for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources, by faculty at STM.

The award is named in honour of Margaret Dutli, who taught English at STM for 27 years as well as serving for many years on the campus ministry team. She was named STM's distinguished alumna in 1999.
