Monthly Giving

Monthly giving is important to our students and programs.  It allows us to plan ahead with confidence in knowing the funds will be there.  It also allows you to budget and you will receiive fewer requests for support.  Monthly gifts can be made by postdated cheques, VISA, MasterCard, or American Express.  You are in complete control of your monthly donations.  Please contact Kerry Stefaniuk, Payroll and Operations Manager, at

Planned Giving

Planned gifts, often called deferred gifts, enable St. Thomas More College to plan ahead with confidence as a result of your forward-thinking generosity. Endowments, gifts of annuity, gifts of insurance, trusts and wills are important ways to provide a thoughtful gift.

Your planned donations can establish a scholarship or support program, equipment and renovation needs in your particular area of interest, while maximizing tax and other financial benefits.

Please involve your financial planner, accountant, lawyer and our business manager/development office to optimize your planned gift objectives. Please contact Karen Massett, Director of Development, with any questions or concerns at 306.966.8918 or

Donation of Securities

STM does accept donations of securities including publicly-traded securities, units in limited partnerships, and units in mutual funds.  Donation of securities can be a very tax advantageous way of donating funds to STM.  If you have a security that has appreciated in value, the tax savings can be significant if you donate the security to STM.  You not only receive the donation tax credit which is usually at the highest marginal tax rate, but you also do not have to pay capital gains tax on any capital gains as a result of the transfer.  The table below compares the tax consequences of donating cash proceeds of sold securities versus donating securities to STM.
