Archbishop Bolen to speak at STM

Development & Peace hosts Extravaganza to launch 'Care for our Common Home' campaign

By Paul Sinkewicz

Archbishop Don Bolen will be the keynote speaker at an upcoming conference dedicated to responding to Pope Francis’ call to ‘Care for our Common Home’ in his encyclical Laudato Si.

Extravaganza is presented by Development & Peace Saskatchewan, and goes Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at St. Thomas More College.

Beginning at 1 pm and running to 9:30 pm, Extravaganza is an interactive, engaging and festive launch of the group’s 2019-2020 campaign, “Care for Our Common Home”.

It was inspired by the upcoming Synod on the Amazon, and Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si. Archbishop Bolen participated in pre-synod meetings with the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network.

The encyclical is addressed to "every person living on this planet" for an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. Pope Francis calls the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path.

Registration for Extravaganza is $35 ($30 for members), and the deadline to register is Aug. 30. On-line registration includes a small processing fee.
