Excelling STM students benefit from scholarships

The 2019 St. Thomas More College Scholarships and Awards Ceremony was held this past weekend

By Paul Sinkewicz

Saturday was a big day for STM's young academics and student leaders, as 65 scholarships and awards were presented.
For those receiving a financial award, the scholarships mean a little less stress in their lives as they try to balance school and work. All the awards were a welcome acknowledgment of many hours of work, study and volunteerism while working toward an education at St. Thomas More College.
On hand to present the scholarships and awards were several of the scholarship donors, as well as Dr. Arul Kumaran, Dean of STM, Dr. Carl Still, STM President, and Dr. Tammy March, Associate Dean.
One of the final awards of the day was the St. Thomas More College Leadership Award, presented by Richard Medernach, Manager of Student Experience and Enrolment. He presented the award to Rowan Hollinger, Alyssa McCullough, Mykan Zlipko,Veronica Lucas and Emily Robers - five students who have taken an active role in the leadership of student groups while at STM.
Congratulations to all the scholarship and award recipients!
