Ukrainian Studies annual open house draws strong interest

Future participants come out to hear about STM College Ukrainian programs, student club, PCUH

It was standing room only at this year’s STM College Ukrainian Studies Reception in the Chelsea Room recently.

The event included guest presenters Dr. Tammy Marche, Dean of STM, Dr. Oksana Dudko, Ukrainian Studies instructor, Caitlin Ward, Manager of Engaged Learning, and Jensen Beaudoin, President of the University of Saskatchewan Ukrainian Students Association.

Attendees learned about the different aspects of the College's Ukrainian Studies programming, and related opportunities at USask.

The event was hosted by Dr. Nadya Foty-Oneschuk, Interim Director of the Prairie Centre for the Study of Ukrainian Heritage (PCUH).

PCUH is an academic unit of St. Thomas More College, created in 1998. Its mission is to promote the advanced study of various aspects of Ukrainian heritage, culture and life; to co-ordinate and encourage the preservation of primary source materials relevant to such study; and to disseminate results conducted under its auspices. Specific programs and projects aimed at preservation or designed to promote a wider understanding and appreciation of the Ukrainian experience in Canada and abroad are funded by the PCUH.
