Celebration marks notable faculty, staff accomplishments
President’s Appreciation & Dean’s Year-End Reception caps successful academic year

The St. Thomas More College community came together recently to celebrate the end of the academic year and recognize the achievements of faculty and staff members.
The President’s Appreciation & Dean’s Year-End Reception took place on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in the STM Cafeteria with a ceremony and refreshments.
The program included the announcement of academic appointments:
- Kylee-Anne Hingston, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, received a Renewal of Probation
- Jennifer Briere, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, was awarded Tenure
- Sarah Powrie, Associate Professor in the Department of English, was promoted to Professor
Eight STM College instructors were nominees for a University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union Teaching Award.
- They were Henri Biahé, Carleigh Brady, Jeffrey Klassen, Emily Morris, Sarah Powrie, Charles Smith, Hongbin Zhang, and USSU Teaching Award winner Zachary Yuzwa.
As well, 33 STM College instructors were nominated by their students and peers for an STM Teaching Excellence Award.
- Honorable Mention for Term and Sessional instructors went to Fachrizal Halim, from the Department of Religion and Culture.
The STM Teaching Excellence Award for Term and Sessional instructors was awarded to Nadya Foty-Oneschuk.
- Honorable Mention in the Tenure and Tenure Track category went to Henri Biahé
Cynthia Wallace, from the Department of English, was the recipient of the STM Teaching Excellence Award in that category.
The year-end celebration also included recognition of faculty and staff members for their long service to the College.
- With 10 years of service: Jacquie Berg, Director of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment.
- With 20 years of service: Anthony Jenkins, Philosophy Department, and David York, Political Studies Department.
- With 25 years of service: Ria Jenkins, Philosophy Department, Michael McLean, STM Campus Minister, and Richard Medernach, Manager of Student Experience and Enrolment.
