Fall Festival frivolity includes games, treats, and Newman Club Coffee House

Student groups offer respite from studies in run-up to Halloween

As the fall semester goes along, any chance to unwind and have a few laughs is always welcome for STM College students.

That's why the College's student groups hosted a day-long Fall Festival recently that featured games, crafts, prizes, treats and entertainment.

The 2023 Fall Festival took place Oct. 27 in the John Henry Newman Student Lounge and the STM Cafeteria. On offer were activities like origami paper folding, Halloween decorating, movies and popcorn, hot apple cider, colouring and crafts, candy apples, and pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe.

In the evening, the Newman Club hosted a Coffee House featuring songs, poetry, really bad jokes (Alayna!) and refreshments. Admission was by donation, with funds raised going to the Beba Project, which helps mothers and babies with needed supplies.

Alayna Jones was the MC for the Coffee House, and the roster included singers Richard Medernach, his son Sam, Henry Theissen and his friend Ben Hillis, Sarah Evans ready poetry.

The Campus Ministry team was well represented with Celeste Woloschuk singing two numbers, and Michael MacLean and Andre Lalach teaming up with Celeste for two more songs. The evening was capped off by STM supergroup The Fantastic Four, made up of Celeste, Richard, Andre and Michael.
