Fun activities keep coming as STM welcomes back students, faculty and staff

Welcome Week gets supersized with more food, fun and friends on schedule

By Paul Sinkewicz

The St. Thomas More College welcomed back students, staff and faculty last week with a fun slate of activities that included a Candy Bag Giveaway, our first TED Talk of the year (with delicious, free treats!) and a very popular Ice Cream Giveaway at the North Entrance.

It was all part of the STM community's way of opening up its arms to both those coming to the College for the first time (which can be daunting), and those wily old veterans gearing up for another semester of work and play.

The week ahead features our first Mocha Ministry on Monday, when our friendly Student Experience Team serves free hot drinks and tasty baked snacks in the St. John Henry Newman Student Lounge from 8-10:30 am.

On Tuesday, the USask community will gather in the Bowl for a Welcome Back Powwow and Metis Dance Celebration from 10 am to 4 pm. If you've never taken part in a celebration like this, it's colorful, fun, friendly and a great way to continue your personal journey of Reconciliation.

The annual STM Academic Mass takes place Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 3:30 pm in the STM Chapel. All are welcome to take part in this blessing on your academic year and hear from the senior leadership members of STM College.

If you love free breakfast (and who among us doesn't?), come to our free Pancake Breakfast in the STM Cafeteria from 9-11 am on Thursday. Meet our friendly faculty and staff as they serve up flapjacks and syrup.

Friday sees Come-and-Go Games in the Student Lounge from 10:30-2:30 pm. It's a great chance to gather with old friends, or meet new ones. One piece of advice we keep hearing from our current and former students is that getting involved in the welcoming community of STM College makes your university experience SO MUCH RICHER!

We hope to see you at some of our events this coming week!
