King Charles Medal recipients honored
A recent medal presentation in Saskatoon included members of the STM community.
By Jacquie BergMay 3, 2023, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the “Government of Canada intends to award 30,000 Coronation medals to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to Canada, a province, territory, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings benefit or honour to Canadians or Canada.”
The medal, created to recognize King Charles III’s coronation, is given to citizens who have made significant contributions in public service, politics and justice, education, industry, sports, health care, community service and philanthropy.
Tuesday, September 10, two dozen Saskatchewan residents were presented with the King Charles III Coronation Medal by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty in Saskatoon. "As His Majesty's representative in Saskatchewan, I am honoured to recognize these Coronation Medal recipients for their inspiring service to their community and province," Mirasty said. "I am grateful for their tremendous examples of dedication, leadership and generosity."
St. Thomas More College (STM) community would like to congratulate recipients recognized on September 10 and specifically acknowledge the worthy recognition of Jason Aebig (Chair, STM Board of Governors), Mary Donlevy-Konkin (STM Corporation member, former STM Board member), and Chief Justice Martel D. Popescul (STM Lawyers Guild).
