STM Announces New Director of Advancement

Following a national search, St. Thomas More College (STM) is pleased to announce Connie Andersen BA, CFRE as the College’s new Director of Advancement beginning March 1, 2024.

As stated by President Carl Still, the new Director will “assist STM in building a culture of philanthropy through a strategic approach to our College Plan goal to increase revenue capacity with a renewed focus on philanthropy and alumni engagement.”

Along with 21 years of fundraising and leadership experience in the non-profit sector and a passion for philanthropy, Connie Andersen brings to the role a strong belief in the mission of the College, crediting her own personal formation in a social justice career path from her educational experience as an STM alumna (Class of 1993).  Connie is inspired by Henri Nouwen’s declaration that “Fundraising is, first and foremost, a form of ministry. It is a way of announcing our vision and inviting other people into our mission.”

Having received her Bachelor of Arts in English (High Honours) from USask, Connie began her career in Phoenix, Arizona returning with her family to Saskatoon in 2014 to take on the role of Director of Community Development at Inclusion Saskatchewan. While in this role Connie developed and implemented a successful fund development plan, managed a large portfolio of annual pledged donors, and served as editor of Road Map to the Future, a Financial Planning Guide for Families. She achieved her Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2020.

Andersen joins Kari Sinkewicz, Manager of Development and Alumni Relations, to establish a shared vision and direction for a full-scale institutional advancement program, including the development and execution of programs that attain campaign and fundraising goals. Connie will oversee a diverse revenue generation structure including prospect identification and management, major gifts, planned giving programs, major campaigns, sponsorships, community partnerships, alumni relations, donor relations, and special events.
