STM GSCS Art Exhibition Opening Night
St. Thomas More College(STM) celebrates student artists from local Catholic high schools with the gallery exhibition running until June 24

Thursday evening, May 26, STM held our 5th Annual GSCS Student Art Exhibition Opening night reception. Last year with COVID-19 restrictions we were forced to hold the event virtually – so, it was very exciting to be back in-person!
With our highest participation to date, we have 43 grade twelve students from the Greater Saskatoon Catholic schools (GSCS) whose art is now on exhibition in our gallery space adjacent to the Shannon library – available for viewing until June 24.
The opening night reception was a full house, bringing together the student artists in celebration with parents and friends along with the art teachers from the participating schools - Bethlehem High school, Bishop James Mahoney High School, E.D. Feehan High School, Holy Cross High School, and St. Joseph High School.
President Still and Associate Dean Farthing were on hand to provide greetings and encouragement to those in attendance. This initiative remains valuable in expanding our relationship and commitment with our local Catholic schools and welcoming prospective STM students with interest in the liberal arts, as they plan their next steps post graduation.
Special thanks to Linda Huard who worked with the schools and instructors over several months to help promote the marketing/recruitment initiative and facilitates the art collection etc. Her enthusiastic engagement over the process, and presentation to the students at the event, is key to the success we are witness to.
Linda Stark, the College curator, worked diligently to display and label the works in our gallery space and photograph them for our gallery page online – all in a tight timeline!
